Marriage Is Made in Heaven

Introduction

On Monday some of our state senators will be meeting at 10:00 a.m. for a hearing on a bill that proposes to redefine marriage as being a union between any two people regardless of their gender.  If a bill such as this passes, it will affect all of us.  It is time for faithful, Bible-believing, blood-bought Christians such as ourselves to leave their comfort zone and act, even if eventually we are thrown in jail.

Marriage is a creation institution.  Therefore, it isn’t something for the church only.  What God says concerning marriage applies to every time in history and every culture in the world.  So, what you believe concerning origins is foundational.  In the beginning God or in the beginning matter?

I.             It is not good for you to be alone.

A.   A shocking evaluation.

B.   The wife is designed by God to make her husband complete.

C.   Marriage is a lifelong covenant relationship between one woman and one man.

D.  God has a gift for everyone in this area.

E.   Did God create some people to be homosexuals?

II.          God established your roles as husband and wife from creation.

A.   The wife is to submit to her husband’s leadership.

B.   The husband should love and honor his wife.

III.       Concluding applications.

A.   Marriage is a divine institution.

B.   Marriage is meant by God to be a blessing for mankind.

C.   Marriage is designed by God as a picture of our relationship to Him.

Conclusion

Are we convinced that what God says concerning marriage is true and good and a blessing?  Are we convinced of the power of the gospel to change the vilest sinner?  Are we convinced that Jesus shall reign from sea to sea?  If so, let’s stand for it.
